Bless Our Kitchen

The Kitchen is the center of our home. We tend to do most things here. Cooking, cleaning, catching mail, homeschooling, coversations, writing, praying, and praising the Lord with Praise music all goes on in our kitchen.  I could go on and on.  Making meals together, laughing, and even moments of tears have happened here. I pray while washing dishes, and I have my morning prayer time in here because it is the only place that will not disturb sleeping members of my family in the wee hours in the morning.
My husband is making homemade biscuits.  His speciality! We do these on nights that are slow and more relaxed so he has plenty of time to make them.
This past weekend was my oldest boys 13th birthday. Hannah and I made him a chocolate cake. I let her make it mostly by herself and it was very yummy.

Kyle helping with Ethan's Birthday breakfast. Sausage, Cinnamon Rolls, and Eggs was the menu.

                                                      A Kitchen Prayer

Bless this kitchen, LORD, and those who gather here each day.
Let it be a place where we can meet
to love and laugh and pray.

This came off of a little plaque my sister gave me for Christmas one year.  I love it and treasure it. I also pray that this prayer is a truth for our kitchen as we gather here, cook here, love here, serve others by cooking meals for those in need, and preparing for events and such. Bless our kitchens Lord.

Staying Hydrated (Spiritual Sunday)

We need to stay hydrated in the Lord. My early post this week shared how the Lord is watering my garden well. I feel my roots soaking up His heavenly dew.

Here is some tips to stay hydrated even when drought, and dormancy comes....

1. Set aside time DAILY to spend with the Lord. I try to walk about my whole day in the spirit but having specific time to read the bible, pray, and meditate is crucial.

2. Studying the bible is different to reading the bible for me.  I read a bible reading plan (chronological this year) but also studying certain books of the bible, words, or passages can help you dig deeper and open your eyes.

3. Create a Journal. I love to journal certain scriptures that stand out to me during my reading. I call them Rhema Rays or Little Golden Nuggets in the bible. You can also journal on books of the bible or words that you are studying.

What do I mean by word study?  This year I am studying the word SEEK.  Whenever I come across the word in my reading I jot the scripture down and journal what I feel it means.

4. Find a Mentor.  Someone that is spiritually mature and grounded in their prayer life. They can hold you accountable, pray with you, and encourage you.

5.  Be faithful attending a regular church service. God has placed a Shepard over your soul. Take notes during the sermons for study during the week.

6. PRAISE MUSIC.  Raise your hands and worship him.

7.  Fasting...this can be a wonderful way to put down the flesh and flow freely in the spirit. Please take caution and be guided by the Lord for this.

8. Read great and encouraging blogs....Spiritual Sunday's, and The Sheltering Tree are great encouraging blogs.

9.  Have a prayer retreat once a year.

10.  Memorize scriptures.  Post them all over the home, and car.

11.  Listen to good christian talks (Revive Our Hearts) or sermons in the past from your pastor, or conventions.

I hope some of these tips will help you stay hydrated and water your garden.

A Well Watered Garden & Modest Monday

Good Day Dear Friends!!

Today I have a lot of catch up. It has been one busy weekend, but a nourishing one. A NOURSIHING SOUL WEEKEND.

"You will be like a well-watered garden."  Isaiah 58:11

Praise the Lord for his promises toward us.  I have been a loooonnngggg season of drought but the Lord has watered my soul this past couple weeks and I am so thankful.

I am also sharing a Modest Monday post.  I purchased this dress for $4.50 at Goodwill and the denim jacket was a hand me down (thanks MOM) and I wore white sandals with it. Today is a lovely day and we are doing yard work, and house work. Monday is my husbands off day.  He Pastors and it is FULL TIME...but we set aside Monday's to sleep in and do projects and things like that. It took a bit to get use to have Monday's off but it works for us.

I pray you have a wonderful day.  What is left of it.

Bunnies, Flower Gardening, and Prayer Retreat Pictures

Dear Friends,

This has been a very up and down week so far. Spiritual battles have hit my home front.  Of Course...I figured once I made that dedication to get up early and stick with my morning time with God that the enemy would throw his darts.

Thank God for the Shield of Faith!!!! Anyway...please be in prayer for me as I need a special prayer.  Thank YOU!

On the HOME FRONT....

While planting flowers in our flowers beds we discovered a den of bunnies.

We planted some flowers, ivy, and lavender. We still have some other things we want to do but time and money is limited.  I did get some bird feeders and food today. I am excited to see the hummingbirds. I have already seen one. Smiles.

Here are some pictures of our Marriage Prayer Retreat. This was the beautiful view from our cabin.

The back of our Cabin and the 30 Foot Bronze statue of Jesus holding a lamb. The retreat was held a Christian Facility in the middle of the foot hills of the Appalachian Mtns.

It was a refreshing time. We gathered with over 50 other couples and focus prayed, learned tips on effective prayer, worshipped, and sang together. It was lovely.

I will admit the last couple of days have been hard emotionally and spiritually. I am trying to step back and let God but I sometimes get in the way. Smiles. Today in my quiet time I was encouraged to memorize some passage. I will share tomorrow or later in the week the passage.

We ended our day with a yummy bowl of Veggie Soup, grapes, biscuits, and cheese.  I am thankful for my crock-pot. It is one of my servants...Smiles.

After supper and clean up, we showered up and headed to church. My husband led us in Focus Prayer. It was very refreshing.

The Apple of His Eye

Good Morning Sweet Sisters,

I have had such a great uplifting weekend. My husband and I went on a Prayer Retreat with other married couples and it was phenomenal. We also had a some workshops on prayer that really opened up the power of prayer. I have pictures but I am pressed for time so I will hopefully update more on it later.

My mom is in from Alabama and we had a good weekend visit after we returned form retreat. We went to eat at one of my favorite place....Cracker Barrel. It doesn't take much to make me happy....I love this place.  I got a hat for Mother's Day. Derrick surprised me with it. I am excited to wear it.

This morning in my quiet time....the scripture stuck out to me in my prayer and then when I went to read it was actually in my reading.

"Keep me as the apple of thine eye: hide me under the shadow if thy wings."  Psalm 17:8

Apple in this means pupil. It is one of the most sensitive members of the body.  I want the Lord to keep me in the most sensitive place and hide me under his wings.

The Gift of Grace

Dear Sweet Readers,

I will be honest my friends..the getting up earlier than normal finally caught up with me and I was TIRED when I got up. My eyes where heavy and I had a harder time focusing. But God gave me such strength and blessed me today. He honored my very small sacrifice and blessed me with strength.

I had to push my way through this day...but I just kept active and got more than what I even had plan to accomplish done.  I did start my day off with a yummy smoothie. They usually give me a energy boost. My green smoothies are the best for this though.

School was a little slower paced but we got it finished and it was enjoyable. That is always good. *Smiles* Hannah is doing so well in reading. We have a way to go but she is doing really good.

My mom is coming in for the weekend from Alabama (8 hours from here). My husband and I have a Minister and Wives Prayer Retreat we are going to. She is coming to help with the children. She loves any opportunity to sneak here and visit. Smiles!

I am thankful for her help. We don't like leaving our children with just anyone and so we usually don't go to things overnight, but it worked for her to come and visit this time. So, we did our house chores today for her arrival. Hannah helped me today with bathrooms.

We had library day today and got to make library book bags, that was fun. We picked up several good reads for the upcoming week.  I went through my kids clothes and made a donation box and hung up spring clothes.

Today in the Word...I was encouraged in my devotional to thank 3 people that had showed me the Gift of Grace. I loved this and I quickly let these people know that had showed me Grace how much I was thankful for them.

I encourage you to do the same. It is a blessing to receive Grace from others but it is also a blessing to give Grace!  Do you need to give someone the gift of Grace today?

Oh, Lovely Grace & Kitchen Sink Verses

Dear Lovelies,

I can't express to you the change I have felt in our home only after a few days of consistent quite time first thing in the day.  The mother sets the mood in her home and I have seen the reality of this.  I can't help but to watch my actions, and aim to flow in the Spirit, after my time with God.  Spending time with the Lord first thing has set the platform for our days.

This image found online reminded me of the scene of Anne Of Green Gables!

Of Course....we have had some moments, but there is that wonderful gift of Grace that God gives us. I am so thankful for this grace. I have mentioned before I never want to take advantage of this GRACE. I do try to aim to walk in the spirit, but if my flesh rises up over it (which occasionally happens) I hit the floor asking for forgiveness and there is a ocean of grace that washes over me. Grace is like the waves hitting the shore. Waves are ever present. I am thankful for waves of grace.

Kitchen Sink Verses or Quotes has been so helpful in reminding me to stop and visit with the Lord throughout my day. I have a mini chalkboard that sits right above my sink. I tend to be there a lot. *Smiles*

I am also trying to get more water in. So, I bought a couple cups with scriptures from the bible store when they were on sale. These cups keep my water cool for a long time. I fill it up first thing when I get up. I aim to fill it up 3 times before lunch and twice more before bed. I throw lemons, oranges, or a drizzle of unsweet cranberry juice for flavor.

School went well today. We learned about cells in science, toured a cave in France (online of course) and we headed out for a play date for my youngest two. I had some grocery shopping to do. So, I made it for this day to save on gas. Everything is drive.
I got the windows open, classical music playing, sipping on some tea, and I am also cooking dinner. It is boiling and baking right now.  *Smiles* We have church tonight.
Here is a scripture that ministered to me today.
"I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me." Psalm 13:6

Dear Friends,

Today has been a beautiful day. The weather was gorgeous and we had a fun day having a nature walk. The kids have been taking advantage of the this great weather. I know rain is on its way....Spring Rain is a constant and for sure thing in my area.

School is going good so far and I am so pleased with what we are using. It is a God Sent!  I will share in a few weeks what we are using when I test it longer. Smiles.

I got up early today and didn't hesitate because the excitement of meeting the Lord was there. I got up lit my candle (for cozy reasons, :0) and went to prayer. I enjoyed my time in the Lord. He highlighted some scriptures to me today.

Psalm 12:6-7 "The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace on earth, purified seven times.  Thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever."

Do you know that this refreshed me?  God has given me promises and His Holy Word that gives direction for life. In other words... His word (promises and directions) are pure and solid. He will preserve them. I will see the promises either here on earth or in heaven but I will see them because He has said and His Words are PURE!

Tonight we had Crockpot Italian Chicken Quarters...recipe in previous post and they were very tender and good. In the home today, we schooled, laundry, and I cleaned our fan in our bedroom. I have put cleaning that fan off for months. Smiles.

I also put out my Spring/Summer Wreath. I took down the Easter one. I feel our door is very welcoming. I am excited to plant some flowers but I am waiting just a little longer. Our spring can change in a matter of minutes. We can have a 80 degree day and the next a 40 degree. Your best waiting a till end of April to start on the planting as far as flowers go in my neck of the woods.

I hope you all had a good day and enriching day. If not..know God makes all things new...we can have a fresh start tomorrow.

Tip: Take your leftover peels from oranges and lemons (we made lemon orangeade today) and throw them in a pot with cinnamon to simmer. There was a fresh sent aroma in our kitchen today. Smiles.

Monday....Meal Planning, Mowing, and Schooling

Dear Sweet Readers,

Today has been a wonderful day.  Peace has filled my soul and home. I am so happy to have my children back at home with me.  Today was my husband's off day.  I went ahead and got up and had my daily quiet time.....oh...was it so delightful. I will admit when my alarm went off I cringed a bit. Smiles. I layed there and debated for about 10 minutes, but my post yesterday challenged me to get up and have that precious time with my Lord.

In my quiet time I read Psalm 11, Ephesians 2:8-10 (memory work), and then read some devotional. I also read a chapter in, "A Excellent Wife", and I prayed. I enjoyed listening to Fernando Oretgo music at this time. It was so refreshing.

We had a little school today to get back into Homeschool since we are adjusting to them returning home.  It was very good. I got to work with kids individually with little interruptions so that was nice. They both did well.

I cleaned my husbands car, and did laundry, blessed the home with a quick spruce.

Saying No to Flesh and Saying Yes to Spirit

I have been in that place where my flesh has been really strong. I am glad that I have went through this season (not the choices or consequences from fleshly actions) because it reminds me of my complete dependence on Jesus.

I am thankful for Grace....although...I NEVER want to take advantage of the precious grace. Mark me, that my fleshy decisions may seem like normal to some people. They haven't been like horrible things (but then again one sin equals all) but it has brought a distance from the flow of the spirit and I want to walk in the Spirit and flow with the Lord.

I am thirsty and hungry for the Lord. My flesh often takes over and replaces that thirst with things that aren't true deep nourishment from the Heavenly One above.

I am eager to be in the presence of the Lord...but often times that flesh of mine gets really distracted by normal daily "little" things that take up my time and then I am left hitting my pillow realizing that I didn't basque in His presence.

Oh....how I long for that dance with my Lord. His embrace wrapping me again in prayer. That sweet beautiful fragrance that I smell when He is near and with me. I want to say yes to the spirit and no to my flesh. Through this I will be able to draw back to flowing with Him.

One way to do this is to refresh my Quiet Time. I have let myself give in on way to many occasions and not woke early to have that special set aside time with my Lord. I believe (because I have experienced and know) that starting your day off first thing with the Lord results in a ALL DAY flow with the Lord.

This week I plan to rise up early to be with the Lord. To drink from His Well, to sit at His feet, to dance with Him.  Please pray for me to say no to my flesh and yes to my spirit. Blessings and thank you.

Easy $5 and 5 Minute DIY Mini Cloche

*April 16, 2013 RePost*

Hello...I am reposting a older post because I wanted to share this ideas with others. Blessings.  I am linking to Pam, at Sharing the Shelter Link UP.

I was inspired the other day by a new favorite blogger of mine, Notions from Nonny, to do a DIY Cloche. You have to check out hers they are amazing.  Cloches can be a very pricey little treasure. I have always wanted one. She made some that were wonderful using Dollar Store and Thrift Store finds.

I couldn't wait to head to the Dollar Store during my Shopping Day to see what I could find. They didn't have the items she had got, but I got creative and made a mini-cloche.

I started off with a bag of moss, a candle glass plate, glass candle holder, a glass candle votive holder, bird, nest (I already owned from the Dollar Store) and a glue gun.

I glued the candlestick holder on bottom of plate, spread some moss, and placed my little nest and bird and the placed my holder on top. I have rearranged the bird a few times, because it is kind of crowded looking.

The results....

I am happy with the results. No..its not as nice as the one at Hobby Lobby, but I still think for $5 bucks and a couple of minutes not to shabby.

On another note I made this super yummy (not so healthy) but cheap meal that cost me $5 as well.

Here is the link to the recipe for Hamburger and Cream of Mushroom Soup over Rice. I did use Red Fat Crm of Mush Soup, and Lean Beef.
My family loved it. It is a must on our Easy Frugal List. I added green beans and biscuits.

We started back to homeschool after a long break. I am pretty nervous because I am by no means prepared. We had some major bumps in the road after moving and we put our children in the local public school and 2 months later we are bringing them home. I will treasure this experience because it has reminded me that our goals are far different than the world's standards and our calling to homeschool hasn't changed.

We had a negative experience. My children have went to school before in a previous location and it was a good experience but we felt led to homeschool. This time it wasn't good and I am thankful because it has solidfied the questions that ponder in my mind when things aren't working....NO...School is not our answer.  Not in this location that is for sure.

So....here at our abode we are going to be working at putting together a daily plan, and lessons for the next couple of weeks.

Catching Up

Hello Friends,
I am just catching up with things here in the blog world. We had spring break last week and traveled to a church convention. Then it was Easter and we had a fantastic celebration with the Lord. I have been kind of behind since our busy week last week.  I am not feeling very well physically and I am just having a hard time getting back on track. I know I will though.

The week is half way gone and none of the things I had plan to do have even really crossed my mind that much....LOL!  I do hope to get things back in order here and then start fresh as soon as I feel better.

I hope all you are well,
