Stepping Out of the Box~ Family Serving

Today my family (except Ethan-he had other plans) went to the Mississippi Food Warehouse and helped fill 30 pound boxes to be distributed to the homeless and needy in the state. It was such a neat experience and I am so excited to do it again next month. We had a blast!! We were tired at the end.

Here are some pictures from our day!

The kids learned a lot and we made some friends. It has been different since we moved here in September to a new state and actually to an entire different region (Midwest to South). The church we go to now is super large and while there is things to do there we feel we can also be light to the community. We help where we can in the local church but there is a dying, hurting, and lost world out there and to be honest sometimes the only time you can shine Jesus is when you step out of your box and get OUT and shine!

They host this event the 2nd Saturday of each month. This is something we plan to make a part of our lives.

Raising TEENAGERS - HELP Please!!

Hello sweet readers! I want to write a few posts in the upcoming months on teenagers. I know I have mixed readers. I am asking those that have raised teenagers to email me some information so I can put some posts together.

1. What are some things you & your spouse did that you felt made a huge impact for the good of your teenagers to help them become successful (GODLY) men an women?

2. What are some things you would have done different if given the chance? This can remain private if you choose. I just would like advice on this. To see if it is something I need to reconsider in our raising.

Also, if you are in this season with me WHAT are some things you may be doing you feel is helping and what are some areas you need help in?

I am in the throws of TEENAGE HOOD! I need my Titus 2/Mentor Wiser women to step up and share. Please!!!!

My email is

Thank you so much!

Alpaca Farm Field Trip

We went to an Alpaca Farm yesterday and finished with a picnic. It was fun! We got to feed them, make a wet felt soap, tour a store, and watch spinning. It was very neat.

Just Living

We are just "Living" here at Keeping Home. Kyle had a little bug this weekend. So...Tender Love and Care took place! *Smiles*

I took away my Easter D├ęcor and just added Spring thingss for the mantle.

Made a Taco Bar after church and it was a hit.

Scored a good snack by finding a fruit tray on sale like MAJORLY reduced and I snatched it up for a few days of snacking. The kids have enjoyed this sitting out during school. It was normally $10 and I got it for $4 and a bag of apples is $6 dollars so I was happy to find it.

Nothing grand here but just doing the Living!

Bless you all!

Intentional Monday

I have heard the word "Intentional" used a lot. I remember a few years ago I went on a kick of trying to live a more intentional life. Being purposeful. I looked the meaning up for a clear meaning and our friend Webster says it means...

deliberate, calculated, planned, conscious, intended

Hmmm.  I think on the most part I have tried to live intentional but I could always aim for some more intentional living in certain areas.

There are benefits to living intentional! Not living haphazardly.  You miss out on the smell of roses, sweet moments, laughter, hugs, and "time" when you are not intentional.

There are some areas that I feel I need to be more intentional in. I have been INTENTIONAL in having daily time with the Lord for quite a while. My heart is transformed, my outlook, and my purpose.

Because of my time in the Lord I feel Him making me aware a need to live out intentional in other areas as well. Each week in April I will post on Monday what I plan to be intentional about and I will share my thoughts on it the following week.

This week Marriage!!!!  I will be intentional in marriage by investing in it. Praying daily for specifics we need. Praying for ways to daily encourage my husband.....AND ENCOURAGE HIM! I will plan a special time for us to spend together this week. Something unique! I will listen to him and not just talk, talk, and talk!!!

What is the importance of intentionally living?  Because like I mentioned above living haphazardly leads to hazards and neglect in one area or another. Benefits are better relationships, better spending, better health, better time with the Lord.  Betterment all around.

What could you be more intentional this week in?  Marriage, parenting, health, homemaking, frugal living, relationships (friendships, church family, outside family), ministries you have been called to such as Sunday School, Titus 2 mentoring, and such.

I challenge you share what you could be more intentional in/with and set a few SMALL goals to work on it.

40 Days of Decrease- Book Review

We ache deep within to meaningfully honor Christ's resurrection. Yet, in practice, this focal point in the liturgical calendar is often a celebration of a public holiday more than it is of humanity's hope.

40 Days of Decrease invites readers to walk with Jesus through holy decrease of less and loss that led Him cross-ward and beyond. Each day offers meaningful consideration of Jesus' journey through reading and reflection and then issues a challenging daily fast.

Written by Alicia Britt Chole this book has deepened my experience with Jesus and opened my eyes to the TRUE meaning of Passover, Easter, and beyond. This book should be saved in your memory to purchase before Easter next year. You will be transformed and will draw closer to the Lord during the journey towards the Cross.

I can't express to you how wonderful this Easter (LENT) devotional is. As a person who has never practiced lent but was in search to make Easter more about Jesus and less about food, bunnies, and candy this book did that for me.

It also showed me views from the disciples point and even the accusers. Each day is a perfect length.  It opens up with a snippet leading to the cross starting at the journey to Jerusalem all the way to the tomb. There is a challenge, and a encouragement of daily fasting (not in the way you think either), and scripture reading. It also shares snippets about what lent means, how it was started, is it something required, and the myths of it as well.

This by far has been a top book that I have read so far this year.

Is it REALLY.....APRIL?!?!

I will be honest time is flying to me. I wanted to pop on and say hello to you all and greet you with a Happy April Prayer!

Our March was good and I accomplished many things I have put off for a while.  I kicked off March strong but didn't finish as strong as I wanted. I kind of fizzled out of energy and then life also happened. *Smiles* On the most part I am pleased with things I got done.

I have some goals for April but I hope to pace them a little better.  *Smiles*

I will share more on my goals next week but for now I am enjoying this day, reading, and resting.

Blessings friends. HAPPY APRIL!!!
